First

"Draw what YOU want to draw and MAKE it fit the brief."

This was an Ian quote. I was having trouble with a brief and felt like i was constantly just jumping hoops, i wasn't enjoying it anymore. I spoke to Ian and soon found out that the majority of editorial jobs aren't going to interest me, so i had to MAKE myself interested. I had to incorporate my interests into the piece. If i'm not interested in the subject i won't enjoy it and probably won't come up with any good ideas and therefore finish up with a below par end product. I have to twist the situation to my advantage. So long as i can justify my decisions a can pretty well put in whatever i want, provided the client likes it too.
I believe i did this to an extent in the Wellspring Project. I managed to draw plants and animals while getting the point across about homelessness. It was a mini breakthrough in dealing with unpleasant or unwanted subjects. Though i don't like my Wellspring work enough to do that type of thing in the future, i am pleased with myself for trying new things and pushing myself.
