Mixed media can work well together without necessarily blending.
At first i was trying to make my drawings fit and blend into the photo. This was an uphill struggle that wasn't coming to anything so i went the other way and made them obviously NOT part of the photo. This ended up looking nice, the drawing still looked at home in the photo but they weren't trying to be something they're not.
