Beetle board
This is my final Beetle board. The Beetle's engine is air-cooled (rather than water-cooled) which is represented by the wind which is whipping up the Beetle's Hitler style tash and hair. I wanted to show the huge contrast in how we see the Beetle, it id known for being a 60's hippie type icon, yet it was actually design by Mr Porshe for Hitler as a 'car for the people'. I tried to show this contrast by giving the car a Hitler look and left it black and white but had the 60's style plants and colours growing up around it and overpowering its controvercial past. Each of my boards has something a little special to it, to make it an individual. This one has quite a strong symmetrical feel to it so i went with that when i cut into it. It also has the Beetle's windscreen cut out and replaced with a see through plastic sheet which gives a bit of added interest. The white behind the plants really brings the image out away from the wood so colours and edges can be seen better. This is also the image i have chosen to use for my animation. In my animation the wind blows constantly with leaves flying past and the hair and tash forever waving. Gradually the plants grow up from the ground and sway in the wind. Then the petals begin to drop and the plants fade away to be left with nothing but the car again. This is where the loop ends and begins. I'm becoming more and more pleased with my animation, it doesn't look particularly professional but i've learnt so much. I still don't feel comfortable with After Effects but i'm happy with how much effort i've put into it.
