Megan emailed me this artist as she uses biro too, although to a much finer standard than mine. After looking through her blog ( http://andreajoseph24.blogspot.com/ ) i'm now officially an addict!

She has a lot of work to show with a variety of subjects and contexts. She blends images with typography seemlessly, which means her work lends itself very well to the boo illustrations she does. The fine detail and shading to her realistic works is staggering, but she can also bring stylised drawings to the table with confidence. Every time i think i've decided on a favourite image i find a new post and it's all thrown out of kilter again - in a good way.

I like her because it just shows what you can do with a biro, it's not just for scribbling down people's phone numbers. I also like how her ideas are fairly simple: a pen, a room, a Classifieds page etc. The ideas are simple but the quality is unmeasurable. Her work has already influenced mine by making me think that maybe i should be a little more refined with my biro. I still really like using biro but maybe i'll mix it with paints, or try using a colour other than black. For this project i really need to keep pushing my ideas and developing my images, but if something doesn't click soon when i leave college i'm going to slip back into my more simple ideas and way of drawing. I also hope to use more typography in my work like Andrea's, i need to stop seeing type as titles and labels and see it as part of the image or little images in themselves.
