Lord Whitney lecture

Lord Whitney is a blend of photographer Amy Lord and 3D ilustrator Rebekah Whitney. They met at university in Leeds and didn't really find their style until a few months before the end of uni. This relaxed people like me who still don't feel completely whole or confident in their work. I connected with them when Rebekah said that after uni she felt drained, and towards the end of uni she was just going throught the motions producing work because it was set rather than enjoying it. This is how i feel now, i'm not enjoying what i'm doing - though i've fallen a fair way short of the end of uni. I also liked it when they were explaining that they had come full circle to how they used to work when they were kids. I realised this at the end of the second year when i began to draw naturally rather than trying to please tutors.
They recommended keeping in touch with people from uni and collaborating with them and also that its ok to do work for fre as exposure but to be careful of people taking advantage. I definately think i will do as they did and take part in a Prince's Trust business course for young people where they learnt about accounting and advertising and copyright etc. It was interesting to hear that they had to keep going on benefits as i couldn't help but feel like a failure and possibly give up in that cercumstance. Sinse renting their studio, though, They have had constant work. They made and printed their own business cards which has encouraged me to have a stamp made with my details on and a few little examples of my work so i can make myown too.
