Candice Tripp

This is Candice Tripp. She draws slightly disturbing things like a young girl smiling with a nose like a skulls, with very sickly greens and reds. I do quite like her 'style' but the actual reason i chose her is because of her amazing use of negative space. This girl with the balloon is an unusal format but used to great advantage. The eye's drawn to the bright red balloon then there is such a vast empty space between it and the little girl. All the picture needs to explain the situation is how the girl feels about losing the balloon and she looks devastated.

Whereas in the clown image everything is in one corner or the canvas. This is not to make the image look sleek and classy, but makes it more interesting with less for the viewer to take in. All we need is the situation with the girl and the clown. It also gives a sense of scale, as though there is a lot of space behind them.
