Two ladies, Lisa and Mika, from The Chase agency came to see us today. Lisa is an art director so gave us lots of helpful tips for when we come to scrounging for work, such as:
-When emailing, get a name - don't just start with 'hi'
-Don't attach too many files, a pdf is fine
-Call to make sure they've recieved it
-Do research about the agency
-Be enthusiastic
-Ask to have a go at a brief
-"IS there anything i can help with?"
-If you don't like what's in your portfolio, take it out
-Take a mixture of work
-Keep portfolio clean
-Seeing originals is nice
-No foam board
-"How much time have you got?"
-Have a thick skin
-Have synopsis of brief next to piece
-Start and finish with strongest work
I found this meeting really helpful, even more so if i had my portfolio for them to give feedback on.
