I found David Procter's humourous turkey drawing in the latest Digital Arts magazine and i was hooked. He currently lives in Manchester, somehow you feel more 'pally' with someone that lives locally. He's only been in the big wide world for a few years and already he's in nationwide magazines. I like to think his visual language is not far off mine, with its scruffy lines and ink splashes - it looks very 'homemade'. I like it when the artist isn't worried about splashes and spills, it encourages me to relax about myown work. I need to think about humour in my work more, i love making people happy.

I chose the mackerel drawing because it suddenly struck me, that even though it is slightly stlyised and the ink isn't inside the lines....you still have a better idea of what a mackerel really looks like than those animal identification books with life-like illustrations in. And the blue he's used is to die for. It's a beautiful representation of an animal that isn't often noted for it's looks.
