Dave again

I replied to Dave thanking him and showing my feelings about his feedback and he got back to me with EVEN MORE advice! He's just a fountain of knowledge.

Thanks for putting my name out there. I've noticed it while chatting to various people that everyone thinks their home town is the current hub of artistic creativity!

I totally understand what you said about not knowing quite what to change to 'fix' a likeness. If you're liking long limbs I'd suggest pushing the caricature element even further so you're actively trying to get it to look different from the photo reference. A little tip if you do want to get closer to a likeness, it all comes down to getting the basic position of the features in the right place before you really start adding detail. If the position (and shape) of the eyes, the position of the nostrils and mouth are all correct then its weird how little detail you need to get it to look like the intended person.

You probably already know this but if the fine art style isn't doing it for you then try the flat, sharp details of vector illustration.

Hope some of that was relevant.

Feel free to get in touch any time if you've got any more questions

Dave
